Since its founding in 1999, KEA has been at the forefront of shaping international policy for the cultural and creative industries. We are committed to strengthening culture’s role in society, supporting artists and institutions, and informing policies that reflect the sector’s changing needs and ambitions.
Over the past two decades, we have delivered strategic research and consultancy across Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia. KEA acts as a trusted advisor to the European Commission, European Parliament, Council of Europe, European Investment Fund, UNESCO, and the World Intellectual Property Organisation. Our expertise contributes to key EU programmes such as Creative Europe, ERASMUS, Horizon Europe, Interreg, and External Actions, bringing cultural insight to complex global policy challenges.
Beyond consultancy, KEA actively nurtures collaboration and innovation in the arts. As a member of Culture Action Europe, we engage in building networks for cultural cooperation. In 2000, we co-founded IMPALA, the international trade association representing independent music companies, and in 2008 we expanded with an office in Shenzhen to engage more closely with China’s dynamic cultural scene.
Our initiatives continue to strengthen global connections. In 2016, we launched b.creative, a worldwide network for cultural and creative entrepreneurs that hosts events and competitions to foster exchange and creative risk-taking. Most recently, we created Radical Creativities, a hybrid publishing platform that unites cultural practitioners and thinkers to explore how creativity can respond to urgent social, environmental, and economic issues.
